AMBER, CEO & FOUNDER, 26
A smile enthusiast, Amber radiates positive energy & wants to shine her light in the world with her creations & brand.
She has faced many medical challenges in her life, being born with a congenital defect called Goldenhar Syndrome. Amber has had over a dozen craniofacial reconstructive surgeries from the day she was born. Throughout her many surgeries & hospital stays, she continued to stay positive & strong, always keeping a smile on her face. Despite growing up looking a little different than everyone else, Amber chose to be confident and proud of who she is, hoping she can inspire those who cross her path. Years later when she was 19 years old, she was faced with her biggest medical battle after being diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She went through chemotherapy & ferociously won her battle in 2011. Little did she know, this life challenge would end up becoming the purpose behind her business.
During chemotherapy, Amber had succumb to neuropathy in her hands & decided to pick up crocheting after being taught by her grandma when she was younger. Her treatment caused her to take a year off from her second year at Chapman University, giving her lots of free time. She decided to use this time to perfect her skill. Amber watched crochet tutorials on YouTube, learned new stitches, & soon enough she was creating her own patterns. Being extremely determined & self-driven, Amber decided to sell her designs & start a business. After finding her passion & a purpose, Amber began her first entrepreneurial venture during her treatment, which a few years later evolved into the creation of REY418. She realized she could help a cause through her art & creativity. Amber has been put in a very fortunate position to help those who are fighting the same battle that she fought just a few years ago.
Amber studied marketing, entrepreneurship, & art at Chapman University in Orange, California, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Minor in Art. After graduating in 2014, she became a certified yoga instructor through CorePower Yoga, becoming certified in both Power Vinyasa & Yoga Sculpt. Her company is inspired by her passion for yoga, her struggles & medical victories, & the message of spreading light & positivity.
